Pear and Blue Cheese Salad

Ontario's pear crop includes 4 major varieties: Clapps Favourite, Bartlett, Anjou and Bosc. This salad, which blends pears and Blue cheese, is a tasty addition to dinner.

Ingredients

  • 4 Ontario Pears
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) lemon juice
  • ¼ cup (50 mL) mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) milk
  • ½ cup (125 mL) diced Ontario Celery
  • 3 tbsp (50 mL) crumbled Blue cheese
  • Ontario Lettuce

Instructions

Halve and core 4 Ontario Pears. Brush cut surfaces with 1 tbsp (15 mL) lemon juice. Combine ¼-cup (50 mL) mayonnaise, 1 tbsp (15 mL) milk, ½-cup (125 mL) diced Ontario Celery and 3 tbsp (50 mL) crumbled Blue cheese. Spoon over pears. Serve each pear half on a bed of Ontario Lettuce leaves.
