Tasty Tacos, Ontario Style

Children can have fun preparing this tasty meal with help from an adult. Serve with bowls of shredded Ontario Greenhouse Lettuce and Carrots, diced Greenhouse Tomatoes and Cucumber, Corn Kernels and grated cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (500 g) Ontario Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 medium Ontario Greenhouse Tomato, cored and diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) each chili powder, 
  • dried oregano and dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) each ground cumin and salt
  • 8 taco shells (if desired, warmed according to package directions)
  • Salsa

 

Instructions

In large nonstick skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat, breaking up with spoon, until no longer pink, about 8 minutes. Drain off fat in colander. Return beef to skillet. Add tomato, garlic, chili powder, oregano, mustard, cumin and salt; simmer on medium heat until tomato breaks down and mixture is saucy, 6 to 8 minutes. Divide filling among taco shells; top with salsa, prepared vegetables and cheese.
