Bulletin content:

Where no duplicate accompanies an instrument submitted for registration by mail, it has been the practice in many offices to reply in writing to the registrant advising him of the particulars of registration. Although the reply is often by means of a form letter, providing this service still requires a good deal of staff time.

We understand that because of the current volume of business, some offices have adopted the practice of-providing this information by supplying the registrant with a photocopy of the final page (back cover) of the instrument for the prescribed fee of 50C. We are of the opinion that the saving in staff time more than justifies the provision of the information in this form without fee.

Accordingly, where a photocopy is made of a page of an instrument for the express purpose of providing the registrant with the particulars of its registration by mail, no charge should be made for the photocopy.
