Bulletin information:

Issue Date: November 14, 1974
Legislation: Section 85(3) of The Land Titles Act, Section 77 of The Registry Act

Bulletin content:

Under normal circumstances, the effective time of registration under either The Land Titles Act or The Property Registry Act is the time of acceptance of a document.

Occasionally, for example, when extensive checking is required or when the document is received very late in the afternoon, it may be necessary to delay official receipt until the next business day or, in extreme cases, for more than one day.

However, under no circumstances is an official time of registration to be assigned to the document that is earlier than the time of its acceptance.

In this connection, see section 85(3) of The Land Titles Act and section 77 of The Registry Act.
