
Order in Council 288/2020
On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:
Whereas Ontario faces challenges of economic competitiveness that can inhibit business growth and prosperity, and Ontario’s competitiveness is vital to its economic stability and future success;
And whereas the Government of Ontario wishes to consult with Ontario’s business leaders, speak directly with private-sector workers, and leverage lessons from peer jurisdictions to understand how to improve Ontario’s competitiveness;
And whereas the Government of Ontario indicated in the 2019 Fall Economic Statement that it intended to create a council on competitiveness to advise the Premier;
Therefore, pursuant to the Prerogative of Her Majesty the Queen in right of Ontario to establish advisory bodies and to provide for the appointment of advisors to serve Her Majesty’s Government in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities,
Council Established
- The Premier’s Advisory Council on Competitiveness accountable to the Premier including a maximum of twelve members is hereby established for a period not exceeding three years from the date of this order.
Role
- The Premier’s Advisory Council on Competitiveness will provide advice to the Premier.
Members
- The members of the Premier’s Advisory Council on Competitiveness shall be appointed by the Premier.
Terms of Reference
- The Premier shall determine the terms of reference for the Premier’s Advisory Council on Competitiveness and may amend them from time to time.
Expenses
- The members of the council shall be eligible for reimbursement of expenses incurred in the performance of his or her duties in accordance with the Management Board of Cabinet Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive.
