Order in Council 469/2018

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Greenbelt Council was established pursuant to subsection 15(1) of the Greenbelt Act, 2005;

And Whereas the Minister of Municipal Affairs has the authority, pursuant to subsection 15(2) of the Act, to appoint persons to the Greenbelt Council;

And Whereas subsection 76(2) of the Legislation Act 2006 authorizes the Lieutenant Governor in Council to determine the remuneration and expenses of persons appointed by a Minister pursuant to an authority to appoint a person to an office.

Therefore pursuant to subsection 76(2) of the Legislation Act 2006,

Chair’s Remuneration

1. The person appointed as Chair of the Greenbelt Council shall be remunerated at the rate of:
   1. $350 for each day that he or she is engaged in the duties of the Chair of the Greenbelt Council, provided that he or she is engaged for more than 3 hours for that particular day, subject to (c);
   2. $175 for each day that he or she is engaged in the duties of the Chair of the Greenbelt Council, provided that he or she is engaged for 3 hours or less for that particular day, subject to (c);
   3. the sum of the amounts paid under (a) and (b) shall not exceed $6,525 per year.

Vice-Chair’s Remuneration

2. The person appointed to the Greenbelt Council and designated by the Greenbelt Council to serve as Vice-Chair shall be remunerated at the rate of:
   1. $250 for each day that he or she is engaged in the duties of the Vice-Chair of the Greenbelt Council, provided that he or she is engaged for more than 3 hours for that particular day, subject to (c);
   2. $125 for each day that he or she is engaged in the duties of the Vice-Chair of the Greenbelt Council, provided that he or she is engaged for 3 hours or less for that particular day, subject to (c);
   3. the sum of the amounts paid under (a) and (b) shall not exceed $2,250 per year.

Other members’ remuneration

3. A person appointed to the Greenbelt Council other than the Chair and not designated by the Greenbelt Council to serve as Vice-Chair shall be remunerated at the rate of:
   1. $200 for each day that he or she is engaged as a member of the Greenbelt Council, provided that he or she is engaged for more than 3 hours for that particular day, subject to (c);
   2. $100 for each day that he or she is engaged as a member of the Greenbelt Council, provided that he or she is engaged for 3 hours or less for that particular day, subject to (c);
   3. the sum of the amounts paid under (a) and (b) shall not exceed $1,750 per year.

4. In addition to the remuneration set out above, the members of the Greenbelt Council, including the Chair, shall be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out their duties on the Greenbelt Council in accordance with the Management Board of Cabinet’s Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive.
5. This Order in Council takes effect upon the Lieutenant Governor in Council signing.
