Albert Lake Mesa Provincial Nature Reserve

This revised Interim Management Statement will provide interim direction for the management of the above Provincial Nature Reserve until a comprehensive Park Management Plan is prepared.

This statement will provide the basis for the subsequent preparation of the Park Management Plan.

Land Tenure

The Nature Reserve is entirely on Crown Land.

Guideline: Disposition of land will not be considered in this Nature Reserve.

Recreational Activities

The nature of this Reserve’s topography precludes almost all recreational pursuits.

Guideline: As per Nipigon District Land use guidelines, wildlife viewing will be encouraged (Appendix 1).

Commercial Activities

As of April, 1989, trapline NG-16 has been removed from the park.

Guideline: No commercial activities are permitted in the park. (Appendix 1).

Natural Resources

Mineral potential is considered moderate in the Nature Reserve.

Guideline: As per N.D.L.U.G. mineral exploration or extraction will not be permitted (Appendix 1).

Very little research has been conducted to date.

Guideline: In order to better understand the features in the Park the following are required:

  1. detailed inventory of life science features; and
  2. brief survey of earth science and cultural features.
