Apply to deliver caregiver-mediated early years programs
The call for applications to deliver caregiver-mediated early years programs that will be part of the new needs-based Ontario Autism Program is now closed.
Expectations for service providers
Caregiver-mediated early years programs will support families with young children ages 12 months to 48 months. The programs will be play-based, child-led and developmentally appropriate, and available for a period of up to six months per child.
As a service provider, you will also:
- build partnerships with other local providers to implement these programs
- identify which region and service delivery areas you will serve
- help families identify and access next steps for their child after completing the program
Parents or caregivers will learn therapeutic strategies and specific techniques from professionals based on their child’s individual needs. The focus will be on building a caregiver’s capacity to support their child’s skill development in the following areas:
- social interaction
- play
- communication
- emotional development
- adaptive development and self-help skills
