The Secretary of the Cabinet is the Premier’s Deputy Minister, the Head of the Ontario Public Service and the Clerk of the Executive Council. Ontario’s first Secretary of the Cabinet, Lorne McDonald, was appointed in 1948. The current Secretary of the Cabinet, Michelle E. DiEmanuele, was appointed in 2021.
