This revised Interim Management Statement will provide interim direction for the management of the above Provincial Nature Reserve until a comprehensive Park Management Plan is prepared.

This statement will provide the basis for the subsequent preparation of the Park Management Plan.

The Nature Reserve is entirely Crown Land.

Inaccessibility precludes use of this area by most people.

VI Natural resources

At present there are no staked mining claims in the Nature Reserve and it is unknown if there were claims in the past. Medium mineral potential exists in the Nature Reserve area. Trapline NG-2 encompasses the Nature Reserve but this is only a small portion of the trapline.

Guideline

Mining will not be permitted within the Nature Reserve.

As per N.D.L.U.G., trapping will not be permitted within the Nature Reserve (Appendix I).

VII Cultural resources

Known resources in the Nature Reserve are of recent historic vintage and centre around:

  1. mining; and
  2. forest industry and communities.

Features include an exploration site, a dock and a road used during past resource extraction activities

This Nature Reserve represents the Geological Theme (Neohelikian Rift Valley Environment) and includes the feature of the Main Sequence of Osler Group Volcanic Rocks.
