Please submit your answers to the eligibility questions below. This will help you determine whether you qualify for the program.

If you are eligible, you will be provided with contact information for the Business Advisory Services Team to discuss your project. They will provide you with a link to Transfer Payment Ontario (TPON) where you can submit a full application. Please refer to the program guidelines for additional program criteria and information.

If you are not eligible you will be presented with information outlining the steps to access other services and supports.

Please note that this is a competitive program. Funding is only provided to the strongest applicants.

1. Is your organization an incorporated for-profit business with a plan to invest in an eligible region in Ontario?

sole proprietorships and start-ups are not eligible for the program

2. Does your organization (or parent company) have a minimum 3 years of substantive operations supported by 3 years of externally reviewed financial statements? Applicants will be required to supply financial statements.

3. Is your project an eligible project that will be completed in 3-4 years? (See definitions of eligible and ineligible projects below.)

Eligible projects include:

investments in equipment, new technology, talent and training to enhance productivity, competitiveness and growth
investment in new operations or existing operations that lead to business expansion/new products/services.

Ineligible projects:

ongoing operations including maintenance and capital replacement
refinancing of existing business operations
acquisitions and buyouts
restructuring, or relocating to other jurisdictions within Ontario
primary production
retail
construction (for example, residential development)
personal services
consulting
electricity generation
waste management
recycling
information and communication services
academic research
stand-alone restaurants and hotels (unless transformative and considered a regional priority)

4. Does your organization employ at least 10 people or five if you are located in rural Ontario? Will your project create at least five new jobs (or 30% increase for companies with fewer than 15 employees)?

Rural is defined as a municipality with a population of less than 100,000 people or a population density of 100 people per square kilometer or less.

5. Will your organization be investing at least $500,000 in the proposed project or $200,000 if you are located in rural Ontario?
