Education requirements to get a condominium manager licence
This minister’s designation specifies the education and examination requirements needed to qualify for a general licence and for certain licensees to renew a general licence in 2019.
Minister’s Designation: Ministry of Government and Consumer Services educational and examination requirements for condominium managers
PART I. EDUCATIONAL AND EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS FOR A GENERAL LICENCE
- Pursuant to subsection 5(1) of Ontario Regulation 123/17 (the “Regulation”), made under the CONDOMINIUM MANAGEMENT SERVICES ACT, 2015 (the “Act”), for the purposes of paragraph 2 of subsection 11(1) of the Regulation, sections 2 to 5 of this Designation specify the educational and examination requirements for applicants for a general licence and the organizations authorized to provide the courses or examinations herein specified.
- For applicants who, prior to November 1, 2017, had less than five years’ experience in providing condominium management services, I HEREBY DESIGNATE the following courses developed by the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (“the Association”) and entitled as follows:
- Condominium Law,
- Physical Building Management,
- Financial Planning for Condominium Managers, and
- Condominium Administration and Human Relations.
- For applicants who, prior to November 1, 2017, had five or more years’ experience in providing condominium management services, I HEREBY DESIGNATE the courses mentioned in section 2 of this Designation or, instead of any of those courses, the applicable challenge examination developed by the Association.
- I HEREBY DESIGNATE the following organizations as organizations that are authorized to provide the courses specified under sections 2 and 3 of this Designation:
- Any college of applied arts and technology established by regulation under subsection 2(1) of the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002, S.O. 2002, c. 8, Sched. F.; or
- Any condominium management provider authorized by the Association to offer the courses to that provider’s employees.
- I HEREBY DESIGNATE the Association as the organization that is authorized to provide the challenge examinations mentioned in section 3 of this Designation.
PART II. CONTINUING EDUCATIONAL AND EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS FOR RENEWAL OF A GENERAL LICENCE
- Pursuant to subsection 5(1) of the Regulation, for the purposes of paragraph 1 of subsection 11(7) of the Regulation, sections 7 to 8 of this Designation specify the continuing educational and examination requirements for applicants for renewal of a general licence and the organization authorized to provide the training program herein specified.
- For applicants who were granted a general licence pursuant to the exemption under subsection 11(2) of the Regulation and make an application for renewal of their general licence in 2019, I HEREBY DESIGNATE the following training program developed by the Association and entitled as follows: Continuing Education for Condo Manager General Licence Renewal (2019).
- I HEREBY DESIGNATE the Association as the organization that is authorized to provide the training program specified under section 7 of this Designation.
All previous Minister’s Designations made under subsection 5(1) of the Regulation are hereby revoked.
This DESIGNATION is effective on date set out below.
