Security guard or private investigator licence (registered employer)
Renew, restore or register for a new licence as an employer of security guards and/or private investigators.
Before you register online
Make sure you have to register. If you’ve hired security guards from a licenced agency for your business only, you do not need to register. But if you employ your own in-house security staff, you must register.
To do this, make a list, or get one from your human resources manager or office (depending on the size of your business). The list should have the names, individual licence number and licence type for each employee working for you as a security guard and/or private investigator.
Notice of Collection
In order to process your request, ServiceOntario will collect some personal information on behalf of the Ministry of the Solicitor General under the authority of Section 11 of the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005. This information will be used for identification purposes and to issue and administer licences under the Act.
