Overview

A ONe-key ID is a unique electronic credential that allows you to securely access government services that save you time and money by being quick and easy to use.

Remember to choose a ONe-key ID that you can easily remember and pick a unique password that only you will know. You should keep this information in a safe and secure place so you can retrieve it when you have to login in the future.

If you lose your login information, you may be able to recover your account.

Create your ONe-key ID

The ONe-key ID must be unique and not already chosen by another user.

Your ONe-key ID must also conform to the following security rules:

  • must be between 8 to 100 characters long
  • may include letters, numbers, and some special characters
  • must contain at least one letter
  • ID must not contain the following characters: * \ + " space

Create your ONe-key password

Choose a password that is easy for you to remember but hard for others to guess. Never share your password with anyone.

Note that the password is case sensitive.

Your password must also conform to the following password security rules:

  • must be different from your ONe-key ID
  • must be between eight and sixteen characters
  • must contain at least one upper case letter
  • must contain at least one lower case letter
  • must contain at least one number
  • must contain at least one symbol
  • must not contain spaces

ServiceOntario account

A ONe-key ID also enables you to create a ServiceOntario Account. With this account you’re able to access different provincial services, see the status of applications and fill out and save different notices and forms.

Recover or verify your account

Password recovery questions and answers

You must set up recovery questions and answers as part of your ONe-key account creation. This will enable you to recover your password should you forget it.

Make a note of your questions and answers and keep them in a secure place. During the recovery process you must answer the questions exactly as you set them up, including case sensitivity, or you will not be able to recover your password using this method.

Password recovery email

A recovery email address, while optional, is also a highly recommended way to recover your ONe-key password. There will be no other way to recover your ONe-key account or account history if you forget your ONe-key password and are not able to answer the recovery questions and answers correctly.

Recover your account

ServiceOntario staff do not have the ability to recover a ONe-key account if you forgot your:

  • password
  • recovery questions
  • email address on file

If you are unable to remember your recovery questions and answers and do not have a recovery email address on file, a new account will need to be created. New accounts cannot be connected to old ONe-key accounts, so any account history you had will be lost.
