Consultation: Improving access to French-language services
This consultation is now closed. Thank you to everyone who participated.
The ideas and feedback you shared with us from June 3 to July 5, 2021 helped inform the French Language Services Strategy the Government of Ontario unveiled on November 5, 2021.
About the consultation
Access to French-language services is a priority for the government of Ontario and a fundamental issue for the Francophone community.
As part of our continued work to make sure Francophones in Ontario receive frontline services in French from ministries and their agencies, we consulted with the public during the summer of 2021 to identify legislative barriers, best practices and service delivery models that could be considered to improve access to French-language services.
This consultation helped us introduce amendments to the French Language Services Act as part of a new French Language Services Strategy. The strategy also aims to build capacity for French-language services in Ontario through a cross-government approach to address shortages of French-speaking professionals in key sectors.
