Current status

Project summary
The Lake Superior link project was a plan to build a 230 kilovolt transmission line between Lakehead Transformer Station near Thunder Bay and Wawa Transformer Station near Wawa.
On January 31, 2019 the Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines issued a directive to the Ontario Energy Board to amend NextBridge Infrastructure’s electricity transmission licence and allow it to proceed with the East-West Tie transmission project. This effectively ended Hydro One’s competitive bid to build the Lake Superior link project.
