Minister’s Order

Pursuant to my authority under subsection 36 (5) of the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000 (the Act), I hereby exempt persons from the requirement under subsection 3 (1) of O. Reg. 215/01 (Fuel Industry Certificates) as it relates to section 26 of O. Reg. 215/01, to obtain a liquid propane fitter certificate (an LP certificate) for the activity of purging propane tanks of 2,500 US water gallons (USWG) or less, so long as the person meets all of the following conditions:

  1. the person holds one or more of the following certificates or records of training (ROTs) under the Act:
    1. propane truck operator (PTO)
    2. propane plant operator 1 (PPO-1)
    3. propane plant operator 2 (PPO-2)
  2. the person is employed by either a registered contractor pursuant to O. Reg. 211/01 or a distributor under O. Reg. 211/01
  3. the person has successfully completed a TSSA-approved training program, including a practical examination from a TSSA-accredited training provider on how to safely evacuate propane tanks
  4. the person undergoes either full retraining or skills retesting from a TSSA accredited training provider at three-year intervals

This exemption becomes effective 30 days after signature.
