Overview

The Ministry of Colleges and Universities regulates career colleges under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 and its regulations.

Colleges must be registered

Career colleges offering vocational training must register their institutions with the ministry and renew the registration annually. Unregistered institutions are in violation of the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.

Training programs must be approved by the Superintendent of Career Colleges and can only be approved if they are registeredIf a program is offered by an unregistered institution, that is also a violation of the act.

If you enrol in an unregistered institution, or an unapproved vocational program, the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 may not protect you.

You can search for your career college to see if it is registered with the Superintendent of Career Colleges.
