Ontario Public Service Data Integration Framework
Learn how the Ontario Public Service (OPS) enables data-sharing in a privacy protective way.
Overview
Ontario’s Data Integration Framework was created in the Protecting What Matters Most Act (Budget Measures) 2019. Amendments were also made to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) to include Part III.1 Data Integration.
The Data Integration Framework enables the government to:
- consolidate data that is spread across ministries to find insights and develop policies so government can improve how programs and services are delivered to Ontarians
- create a transparent and accountable approach to how data is used across the OPS
- use existing OPS expertise and capacities in data management, analytics, privacy, technology and infrastructure
Data Integration Data Standards
We developed Data Integration Data Standards to protect the confidentiality of personal information. These data standards outline the overarching obligations under FIPPA Part III.1 and ensure a consistent and effective approach to our transparent, accountable use of data in a way that protects privacy.
