The names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of public sector employees paid $100,000 or more in a calendar year.
Overview
The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.
The act applies to organizations such as:
- the Government of Ontario
- Crown agencies
- municipalities
- hospitals
- boards of public health
- school boards
- universities and colleges
- Ontario Power Generation
- other public sector employers who receive a significant level of funding from the provincial government
All employers subject to the act are required to submit their disclosure records to their funding ministries by the fifth business day of March each year using the guides and forms provided.

2023 Reporting
An online reporting system tool is now active for accountable organizations to submit salary information. These organizations will receive a direct email with details on the Public Sector Salaries Disclosure process and how to access the online tool. If you have not been contacted but are part of an accountable organization required to report salaries, please contact your ministry lead. Resources to aid with the reporting process (that is, user guide and tip sheets) are available in the system.
