Multi-Year Strategic Planning: A Guide for School Board Trustees (2017)
This resource can help you in your responsibility to develop, implement, and monitor plans that span many years.
We created this guide mainly for trustees but is also useful for everyone involved in the strategic planning process. The guide asks school boards to show leadership, equity and collaboration in the strategic planning process with the goal of ensuring the success and well-being of all students.
Specifically, the guide:
- focusses on the 4 key phases in developing and monitoring the strategic plan
- identifies the specific accountabilities of the director of education
- details key moments when the director must support and work collaboratively with the board of trustees
- provides guiding questions and considerations to account for differences in board size, geographic circumstances and demographic trends
- links to supplementary resources that provide more detailed information on aspects of the strategic planning process
Multi-Year Strategic Planning: Supplementary Resources for School Board Trustees (2017)
This companion resource to the guide provides you with more support. Both the guide and supplementary resources are designed to align with current perspectives and best practices in school board strategic planning.
