Monthly meetups

Every month, the Service Design Guild organizes a members’ meetup with a speaker – from inside or outside the OPS – who presents on a specific topic and facilitates the conversation.

As part of this event, you will have the opportunity to:

  • meet, network and share experiences with like-minded colleagues
  • learn more about how service design is applied inside and outside of the OPS
  • discuss how to advance the service design practice in the Ontario government

How to attend

Guild members automatically get an invite with details about the upcoming meetup’s time, location and topic. No formal registration needed.

Annual Service Design UnConference

The Annual Service Design UnConference usually happens around the end of May and is open to any Ontario Public Servant (including non-guild members) – from service design enthusiasts to experienced service design practitioners.

Unlike a traditional conference, an unconference has no set agenda, no list of speakers and – best of all – NO PowerPoint! There’s a high-level structure and theme, but the actual topic ideas come from the participants, who then break out into smaller groups to discuss them.

As part of this event, you will have the opportunity to:

  • raise the topics directly impacting you and your team and learn how others have overcome similar challenges
  • meet and network with like-minded colleagues
  • hear about best practices and lessons learned
  • find out more about applying service design methodologies to your work

Read our blog post on the 2018 UnConference.

How to attend

A few weeks before the event, we’ll announce the registration date and process through the guild mailing list and other internal communication channels.

Because space is limited, attendees will be selected based on their answers to a quick survey.
