Current About the survey

This survey is conducted every 5 years to collect information about Ontario’s anglers and their recreational fishing activities, expenditures and preferences. While this survey does not reflect any proposed changes to recreational fishing regulations, it may help inform future proposed changes.

Closing date: April 30, 2026

This survey should take around 10-20 minutes to complete.

The information we receive from anglers like you is essential for effective fisheries management which prioritizes both resource sustainability and angler satisfaction. We hope that you will answer as many survey questions as possible. However, the survey is voluntary and you may skip any questions you are not comfortable or able to answer. The only questions which are mandatory are those which are required for the questionnaire to function properly (for example, confirming access to the survey or determining which questions to display). Check out results from previous surveys on the survey website if you would like to see some of the ways we use what we learn from these surveys.

Please note that for your answers to be saved, you must click the ‘submit’ button at the end of the survey.

You can save a draft of this form but will lose the draft version if:

  • you exit the browser
  • you leave it unedited and open for too long

Your privacy matters

This voluntary survey is considered a lawfully authorized activity under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997. While it does not collect your name, each survey contains an individual code that is linked to your personal information (name, mailing address, and licensing data) contained in a secure file held by the ministry. The code will only be used to send you a reminder if you do not submit your survey. When the survey is completed, this temporary link will be severed to ensure all responses are anonymous. Only the name of the city or community you live nearest to, the type(s) of Ontario fishing licences you held in 2025, and your gender will remain with your response from the licence data.
