Bulletin information:

Issue Date: October 16, 2014
Legislation: Land Titles Act, Registry Act

Bulletin content:

The purpose of this bulletin is to advise of improvements that are being introduced to the Electronic Land Registration System (ELRS).

1. Improved Electronic Property Index Maps

Improvements for printing and/or saving the Electronic Property Maps are being introduced to Teraview and ROSCO on October 27, 2014. Previously, a map could only be printed and/or saved when it was displayed at or near the Parcel Level where the PINs and the parcel layer information was available. In some situations this meant the adjoining areas around the PIN were not visible. To address client concerns, provide a greater context for the location of PIN, and to reflect what was previously available in the hardcopy Block Maps that were in the Land Registry Offices, the “Print Map” function can now be accessed at any zoom level in Teraview and ROSCO.

Details on how to use the “Print Map” function and other property map features included in the map product are set out in the Teraview Reference Guide.

To access all Teraview Guides, go to www.teranetexpress.ca, select “Teraview Users”, “Already a Teraview Customer”, “Resources”, “Additional Manuals”, and select the appropriate guide.

2. Image database

As part of the Ministry’s commitment to provide services and information in an electronic format, we are pleased to advise ELRS users of the following ongoing initiatives.

  1. Documents with sketches attached

There are approximately 800,000 documents with sketches attached in the province that were previously only available in paper format on site at the local land registry office. These documents are currently being scanned and loaded into the image database, and should be available through Teraview by the end of this year.

  2. Pre Automation and Conversion Documents

An additional 9 million historical documents that were not available in the image database after the automation and conversion of the property records are now also available through Teraview and ROSCO.

  3. Microfilm rolls

A long term project has also been initiated to digitize the document microfilm rolls across the province. This project will preserve the records, and provide improved access to historical document images, by loading them into the image database when they are requested through the exception handling process in Teraview.
