Order in Council 225/2026

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Government of Ontario wishes to establish and appoint a special advisor to provide advice to the Minister of Health on matters relating to the funding and financial recovery of Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation (the “Hospital”) and to assist the Hospital in the development of a plan to ensure the Hospital’s long-term financial sustainability;

Pursuant to the prerogative of His Majesty the King in right of Ontario to provide for the appointment of advisors to serve His Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities:

Special Advisor

1. The office of Special Advisor regarding Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation (the “Special Advisor”), accountable to the Minister of Health (the “Minister”), is hereby established for a period beginning on the date this order is made and ending no later than October 31, 2026.

Terms of Reference

2. The Minister shall determine the terms of reference for the Special Advisor and may amend them from time to time.

Appointment

3. The Minister will appoint the Special Advisor by Minister’s letter, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Minister for a period not extending beyond October 31, 2026.
