Order in Council 88/2021

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council considers it necessary to establish a special advisor position to provide advice to the Minister of Colleges and Universities on matters relating to the financial state of Laurentian University;

Therefore, pursuant to section 4 of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Act:

1. The position of Special Advisor on the Long-Term Financial Sustainability of Laurentian University (the “Special Advisor”) is established for a period not extending beyond June 30, 2021, effective the date this Order in Council is made.
2. The Lieutenant Governor in Council may appoint the Special Advisor to serve at pleasure for a period not extending beyond April 30, 2021, and the Special Advisor may be re-appointed for an additional period not extending beyond June 30, 2021.
3. The Special Advisor shall be accountable to the Minister of Colleges and Universities and shall perform the duties and carry out the activities set out in the Terms of Reference established by the Minister.
4. The Special Advisor shall be paid such remuneration as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.
5. The Special Advisor shall be reimbursed for work-related expenses incurred while engaged in his or her duties as the Special Advisor in accordance with the Travel, Meal, and Hospitality Expenses Directive and any other TB/MBC directives.
