About the Ontario COVID-19 Child Benefit
The Ontario COVID‑19 Child Benefit is now closed. We are not accepting applications.
All applications must have been received by May 17, 2021 at midnight EST.
The purpose of the Ontario COVID‑19 Child Benefit was to provide financial support to families with learners to help with additional costs during the COVID‑19 pandemic.
The program provided:
- $400 for each child or youth up to Grade 12
- $500 for each child or youth up to age 21 with special needs
This new round of payment through the Ontario COVID‑19 Child Benefit was in addition to payments provided by Support for Families and the Support for Learners programs.
Getting your payment
We will send payments by e-transfer, direct deposit or cheque, based on what you chose when you applied. Payments will be made individually per child, youth or student to:
- the parent or guardian who applied for their child
- secondary students who are over the age of 18 and applied on their own
Each application is verified and processed separately. This means if you applied for more than one child, you may not receive all payments at the same time.
You will receive your payment after your application has been verified and processed. Please note that some applications will take longer to verify and process.
We will delay or deny your payment if the information you provide is incomplete or inaccurate.
