About Support for Families

The Support for Families program is now closed to new applications.

All applications must have been received by Monday, August 31, 2020 at midnight EST.

Between April 6 and August 31, 2020 parents had the opportunity to apply for direct one-time funding to offset the cost of buying materials to support their children’s learning while they practiced self-isolation and physical distancing.

Eligible parents could receive a one-time payment, per child, of:

  • $200 for children aged 0 to 12
  • $250 for children or youth aged 0 to 21 with special needs

This funding was offered to help parents with the costs of work books, educational apps, educational subscription services, movies and other tools to support learning at home.

Parents refers to parents, guardians, and caregivers.

Getting your payment

We will make payments by direct deposit, e-transfer or cheque, based on what you chose when you applied.

If you chose direct deposit or e-transfer, it will take a minimum of two weeks to receive your payment.

If you chose payment by cheque, it may take several weeks for payment to be delivered.

Payment will be made individually per child. This means that if you have more than one child, you may not receive payments at the same time. Keep checking your bank account for direct deposits, your email inbox and spam folder for e-transfer emails or your mailbox for cheques.

E-transfer

If you selected payment by e-transfer, you will receive two emails to help guide you through the payment process.

The first email is a notification of the pending payment. It will contain information on how to answer the security question required to deposit your payment.

The second email will have the Interaclogo and will contain a link to deposit your payment into your bank account. At this time you will need to successfully answer the security question.
