Report welfare fraud
Learn how to contact us if you suspect someone is committing welfare or social assistance fraud for programs such as Ontario Works and the Ontario Disability Support Program.
Reporting fraud
While many people need our help, unfortunately some people take unfair advantage of provincial social assistance programs such as Ontario Works and the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP). We are committed to ensuring that our program supports are only provided to those who are eligible.
Let us know if you suspect welfare fraud is happening in Ontario. We take reports of fraud very seriously.
Please provide as much information as you can about the person you’re reporting, including:
- name
- address (including city)
- why you believe this person is receiving assistance fraudulently
After you submit your report
Ministry staff are bound by the privacy and confidentiality requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and cannot:
- confirm whether any individuals are receiving social assistance
- discuss the details of a fraud investigation with the person who filed the complaint
We will also not action any follow-up requests on previously reported allegations. Multiple reports do not result in multiple investigations.
