Booster dose recommendation tool

Infants and children aged 6 months to 4 years are eligible for a primary series only.

Booster doses are only available to those aged 5 or older. Enter information below to find out when you should get a booster dose.


Have you completed your COVID-19 primary series? (required)

A primary series is:

  • Two doses of a Health Canada approved vaccine (or one dose if you received Janssen), or
  • Three doses of a Health Canada approved vaccine if you are immunocompromised

You must select whether you have completed your primary series of vaccines.

Have you received a COVID-19 booster dose since September 1, 2022? (required)

You must select whether you have had a vaccine dose or had COVID-19 within the last 6 months.

Do any of the following apply to you? (required)
  • Aged 65 and older
  • Resident of a long-term care home, retirement home, Elder Care Lodge or other congregate living setting for seniors
  • Aged 18 and older and living in a congregate setting caring for people with complex medical care needs
  • Pregnant
  • Aged 18 and older and moderately to severely immunocompromised
  • Aged 55 and older and identifying as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis or their non-Indigenous household members aged 55 and older

You must select whether any of the additional factors listed apply to you.

You should book your booster dose appointment now if you have not had a confirmed COVID-19 infection within the last 6 months.

If you have had a recent confirmed COVID-19 infection book a booster dose appointment 6 months from when you last had COVID-19 .

You should book your Spring 2023 booster dose appointment 6 months from your last dose or confirmed COVID‐19 infection.

There is no evidence to suggest you need another dose at this time. Recommendations for when to receive your next dose will be available closer to Fall 2023.

If it has been at least 6 months since your last dose or confirmed COVID-19 infection, you are eligible for a booster dose. We encourage you to speak to your health care provider to determine if this makes sense for you.
