Overview
This resource includes statistical data covering:
- primary agriculture
- food and beverage manufacturing
- international agri-food trade
The data is compiled by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness in partnership with Statistics Canada and other government departments and farm marketing boards.
Data sources include:
- surveys of farmers (by phone, mail or in person), with input from field officers, agribusinesses and marketing boards
- the census of agriculture, conducted every five years, which provides benchmarks for livestock, crop areas, land use, farm types and sales
- administrative data on exports, imports and marketing of inspected or controlled commodities
