Public Guardian and Trustee

(pursuant to s. 13.1 of the Public Guardian and Trustee Act, R.S.O 1990, c. P.51, as amended)

1. Effective April 1, 2003, interest shall be computed from the day on which the money was received by the Public Guardian and Trustee to the day before the date on which the money is available for payment to the person or trust entitled thereto and be added to each account and compounded at the end of each month;
   1. subject to subparagraphs (b) and (c) and paragraph 2 of this Certificate, on funds managed under the Mental Health Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Trustee Act, Victims’ Right to Proceeds of Crime Act, Ontario Disability Support Program Act, Powers of Attorney Act, Canada Pension Plan Act or other trust accepted by the Public Guardian and Trustee, at the rate of 3.75% per annum payable monthly and calculated on the closing daily balance;
   2. on funds managed under the Crown Administration of Estates Act, at the rate of 3.75% per annum payable monthly and calculated on the closing daily balance;
   3. on funds managed under the Cemeteries Act, at the rate of 3.75% per annum, payable monthly and calculated on the closing daily balance.
2. Effective April 1, 2003, funds managed by the Public Guardian and Trustee pursuant to the Escheats Act and funds transferred to the Unadministered Estates Account of the Public Guardian and Trustee shall bear interest at the rate of 0%.

1. 1. Effective April 1, 2003, interest shall be computed from the day on which money was received by the Accountant of the Superior Court of Justice to the day before the date on which the money is available for payment to the person entitled thereto and be added to each account and compounded at the end of each month.
   2. Money paid or transferred to the Accountant of the Superior Court of Justice bears interest on the closing daily balance,
      1. in the case of money required to be held in United States currency, at the rate of 1.25%;
      2. in the case of money deposited for the benefit of minors and parties under disability, at the rate of 3.75% per annum, payable monthly; and
      3. in the case of all other money, including litigants, at the rate of 3.75% per annum, payable monthly.

Order Made Under The Environmental Assessment Act

Declaration – Revocation of 20 Exemption Orders

Having received a request from the Director of the Environmental Assessment and Approvals Branch that an undertaking, namely:

The Exemption Orders issued under the Environmental Assessment Act and as approved under the Order-in-Council numbers and filed under regulation numbers as indicated in the list below be revoked pursuant to clause 3.2(1)(b) of the Act.

Exemption Orders being revoked:

The undersigned is of the opinion that it is in the public interest to declare and declares that the Exemption Orders indicated in the list above are revoked for the following reason(s):

1. Ontario Regulations 116/01 and 117/01 made under the Environmental Assessment Act have made the Exemption Orders obsolete, with any residual activities such as operation, maintenance and retirement being covered under section 6 of Ontario Regulation 116/01, other environmental assessment approvals, or by the conditions set out in this Declaration Order.
2. All proponents, both public and private are now required to follow the requirements set out in Ontario Regulation 116/01 and the Guide to Environmental Assessment Requirements for Electricity Projects March 2001.
3. The proponents of the undertakings referred to in the Exemption Orders have not expressed any objections to the revocation of these Exemption Orders, where applicable.
4. The proponents will not be unduly interfered with if the Exemption Orders are revoked.
5. The revocation of the Exemption Orders will not cause injury, damage or interference to persons or property.
6. No environmentally significant impacts have been identified which would arise from the revocation of these Exemption Orders.
7. The Ministry of the Environment wishes to ensure that the listing of active Exemption Orders issued under the Environmental Assessment Act is kept current.

This Declaration Order is subject to the following terms and conditions:

1. This revocation does not affect the previous application of the Exemption Orders listed in this Order.
2. Where an environmental assessment approval covers an undertaking to which a revoked Exemption Order previously applied, and the activities of operation and retirement are identified in that approval as part of the approved undertaking, the application of that approval shall take precedence over condition 1 of this Order.

RE: Financial Services Commission of Ontario Priorities – Request for Submissions

The Financial Services Commission of Ontario Act, 1997 (the “FSCO Act ”) requires the Financial Services Commission of Ontario to deliver to the Minister of Finance and publish in The Ontario Gazette, a statement setting out the proposed priorities of the Commission for the following fiscal year in connection with the administration of the Insurance Act, the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, the Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Act, the Marine Insurance Act, the Prepaid Hospital and Medical Services Act, the Co-operative Corporations Act, the Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires Act, the Loan and Trust Corporations Act, the Mortgage Brokers Act, the Pension Benefits Act and the Registered Insurance Brokers Act, together with a summary of the reasons for the adoption of those priorities.

The statement of priorities for the coming fiscal year will be submitted to the Minister of Finance in June 2003 and will be published in The Ontario Gazette shortly thereafter.

In keeping with the FSCO Act and the Commission’s goal of furthering transparency in the regulatory process, the Commission invites interested parties to make written submissions regarding their views as to the matters that should be identified as priorities of the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.

The Statement of Priorities 2003/2004 is posted on the FSCO web site at: www.fsco.gov.on.ca.
