Minister’s Order Revoking the Appointment of the Head of Council for the Regional Municipality of Niagara Made under Section 218.3 of the Municipal Act, 2001

On December 17, 2025, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing appointed Robert Gale as the head of council for The Regional Municipality of Niagara, for a term ending on November 14, 2026.

On March 11, 2026, Robert Gale announced his resignation as head of council for The Regional Municipality of Niagara.

In accordance with section 218.3 of the Municipal Act, 2001, the Minister may, by order, appoint and fix the duration of the term of the head of council for The Regional Municipality of Niagara, for the term of office beginning in 2022.

Therefore, I order that:

  1. Effective March 11, 2026, the appointment of Robert Gale as the head of council for The Regional Municipality of Niagara is revoked.
