Made under Part V of the Connecting Care Act, 2019, S.O. 2019, c. 5, Sched. 1

Whereas:

  1. In furtherance of the Government’s plan to implement a new model of integrated health care delivery in Ontario, the Government enacted the Connecting Care Act, 2019 (the “Act”) under which a single provincial agency - Ontario Health - will assume centralized responsibility for most of the functions of at least twenty health agencies, including Cancer Care Ontario (“CCO”);
  2. Subsection 40(1) of the Act confers authority on the Minister of Health (the “Minister”) to issue orders transferring all or part of the employees, assets, liabilities, rights and obligations of CCO and other transferring agencies into Ontario Health;
  3. Under subsection 40(3) of the Act, the Minister provided Ontario Health and CCO with a notification letter dated August 15, 2019 advising of the Minister’s intention to integrate CCO with Ontario Health;
  4. The Minister now wishes to order the transfer of CCO’s operations, activities, and affairs - including all of its employees, assets, liabilities, rights and obligations - into Ontario Health effective as of December 2, 2019.

Therefore:

  1. Pursuant to subsection 40(1) of the Act, the Minister orders that:
    1. all assets, liabilities, rights and obligations, and all records relating thereto, of CCO are transferred to Ontario Health; and
    2. all employees of CCO and related records, rights and obligations are transferred to Ontario Health.
  2. This Order takes effect on December 2, 2019.
