Order in Council 1229/2024

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Government of Ontario wishes to appoint a Special Advisor to review the governance of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, in order to receive advice and recommendations;

Therefore, pursuant to the prerogative of His Majesty the King in Right of Ontario to provide for the appointment of advisors to serve His Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities,

Establishment and Appointment of Special Advisor

1. The position of Special Advisor, accountable to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing (“Minister”), is hereby established for a period not extending beyond September 19, 2025, effective the date this Order in Council is made.
2. The Minister may appoint the Special Advisor, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Minister.

Terms of Reference

3. The Minister shall determine the terms of reference and any other terms and conditions for the Special Advisor and may amend them from time to time.

Remuneration

4. The Special Advisor shall be paid such remuneration and shall be reimbursed for such expenses as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.
