
Order in Council 1408/2024
On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:
Whereas under the terms of the Public Service Pension Plan, Ontario Provincial Police Association members and Professional Engineers Government of Ontario members who qualify for a benefit under a Long-Term Income Protection plan, and who would, upon ceasing to be a member, be entitled to an unreduced pension, provided that they have accrued at least 30 years of credit in the Public Service Pension Plan, are required to make member contributions in order to continue to accrue pensionable service;
And whereas there is a desire to retroactively remove the requirement for members to make these contributions to accrue service;
Now therefore pursuant to subsection 6(1) of the Public Service Pension Act, the Public Service Pension Plan set out in Schedule 1 to the Public Service Pension Act, 1989, as amended, is further amended as follows:
- Subsection 10(6.1) is revoked effective May 1, 2017 for individuals who are, or were at any time since that date, represented by the Professional Engineers, Government of Ontario; and
- Subsection 10(6.1) is revoked effective January 1, 2018 for individuals who are, or were at any time since that date:
- represented by the Ontario Provincial Police Association under the Ontario Provincial Police Collective Bargaining Act, 2006;
- Commissioned Officers of the Ontario Provincial Police who are represented by the Commissioned Officers Association; or
- A Commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police or a police officer with the rank of deputy commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police.
- Subsection 10(6.1) is revoked effective January 1, 2018 for individuals who are, or were at any time since that date:
