Order in Council 1604/2025
On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:
Whereas pursuant to clause 10(a) of the Education Act, the Minister of Education may appoint such advisory or consultative bodies as may be considered necessary by the Minister from time to time;
And whereas it is considered desirable to establish a short-term advisory body to provide advice to the Minister on matters relating to student achievement and assessment in Ontario’s publicly funded education system, and to deliver recommendations on strategies to better support teachers, parents and students in achieving success;
Therefore, pursuant to clause 10(a) of the Education Act:
- The Short-Term Advisory Body on Student Achievement and Assessment (the “Advisory Body”) is established for a period of one year, effective the date this Order in Council is made.
- The Advisory Body shall be comprised of two members to be appointed by the Minister of Education (the “Minister”), and the Minister shall designate one member as Chair.
- The members of the Advisory Body, including the Chair, shall serve at the Minister’s pleasure for a period not exceeding one year.
- The Advisory Body shall be accountable to the Minister and shall perform the duties and carry out the activities set out in the Terms of Reference established by the Minister. The Terms of Reference may be amended by the Minister from time to time.
- The members of the Advisory Body, including the Chair, shall be paid such remuneration and shall be reimbursed for such expenses as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.
