Order in Council 1607/2025

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council established the position of Special Advisor, Toronto New Deal to the Minister of Finance (the “Special Advisor”) for a period not extending beyond December 31, 2025 under Order in Council 1179/2024 and remunerated the Special Advisor under Order in Council 1180/2024;

And whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council has extended the position of Special Advisor until December 31, 2026 and has provided the Minister of Finance with authority to appoint the Special Advisor;

Therefore, pursuant to the prerogative of His Majesty the King in right of Ontario to provide for the remuneration of advisors who serve His Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities, in respect of the period beginning on January 1, 2026 and not extending beyond December 31, 2026,

Special Advisor’s remuneration

1. The Special Advisor shall be paid remuneration at the rate of $627 per diem for each day the Special Advisor is engaged for more than three hours in carrying out their duties as Special Advisor, up to a maximum of 168 days per year. The maximum number of days shall be pro-rated for partial year appointments.

Expenses

2. In addition to the remuneration set out above, the Special Advisor shall be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the duties of the Special Advisor in accordance with the Management Board of Cabinet’s Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive.

Revocation

3. Order in Council O.C. 1180/2024 is revoked.

Effective Date

4. This Order in Council is effective the later of January 1, 2026 and the date this Order in Council is signed.
