Artificial intelligence (AI) can help improve our programs and services across the province. When used responsibly, AI can:
- strengthen service delivery
- support better decision-making
- increase efficiency
- help people and businesses save time and money
Working together for responsible AI
Ontario works with AI experts, industry, civil society and the public to identify what responsible AI should look like in Ontario. We will continue to consult as we consider potential requirements for the broader public sector.
From past consultations, we heard that AI use should be:
- transparent
- accountable
- risk-managed
These principles are reflected in the Trustworthy AI Framework which includes the:
- Enhancing Digital Security and Trust Act, 2024 (EDSTA)
- Responsible Use of AI Directive
- AI use case inventory, which lists AI tools and solutions used across the Ontario Public Service (OPS).
As AI evolves, we will continue to adapt and remain a national leader in responsible AI.
