How to order a graphic licence plate

You can order a graphic plate at any ServiceOntario centre.

Some centres already have the most popular graphic licence plates on hand (e.g. loon, trillium, or your favourite sports teams) – so you may not have to wait for the plate to be delivered.

Graphic licence plates are available with a choice of English or French slogan.

What you need

To buy a graphic licence plate you need:

• to pay any outstanding fines
• identification (e.g. driver’s licence, passport)
• a vehicle permit
• the plates currently attached to your vehicle if you are replacing them with a new graphic plate. Before removing your plates, check with the ServiceOntario centre you are visiting to make sure they have the graphic plate you are requesting in stock

If you do not have a vehicle permit

If you do not have the vehicle permit, you can get a replacement permit at a ServiceOntario centre for $32.

If the plate you want isn’t in stock, you can order it and have it delivered by courier. For those of you with a P.O. Box, the plate will be delivered by mail.

Sample plates

You can order some graphic plates for decoration or your collection. You cannot legally attach sample plates to a vehicle.

Veteran graphic licence plates

Veteran graphic licence plates are only available to eligible veterans. A fully-completed Application for Veteran Plate Eligibility Certification form, signed and stamped by the Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Provincial Command, must be shown at a ServiceOntario centre in order to receive a Veteran graphic licence plate.

Types of Veteran graphic licence plates

Veteran graphic licence plates are available for passenger and commercial vehicles, motorcycles and as sample plates.

You can order a Veteran graphic on the following:

• regular series licence plate
• personalized licence plate
• motorcycle plate (not available as a personalized plate)
• sample plate
  • only two plates may be ordered
  • not available for motorcycles
• amateur radio plate (your call letters as the plate number). A valid Amateur Radio Licence showing your call letters must be presented at a ServiceOntario centre.

Order a Veteran graphic licence plate

In addition to what you need to submit to order any graphic plate, to order any type of Veteran graphic licence plate you must also:

1. Fill out an Application for Veteran Plate Eligibility Certification.
2. Have the completed form signed and stamped by the Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Provincial Command
3. Bring the original copy of the form to any ServiceOntario centre.

Cost

There is no cost to order a Veteran graphic on a regular, sample, motorcycle or amateur licence plate. Personalized licence plate fee applies when a personalized licence plate is ordered with a Veteran graphic.

Adding your organization’s logo

Organizations can apply to have their logo added to the list of graphic licence plates offered by ServiceOntario. There is a $250.00 application fee which is returned if the application is not approved. Send an email to request an information package.

Individuals cannot request logos that are not already available as graphics on licence plates.

Personalized plates with graphic

You can order a personalized licence plate that also has a graphic on it.
