These particulars are posted following the issuance of an administrative penalty by the Superintendent of Career Colleges pursuant to s. 39 (1) of the Act for which a review was not requested.

Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005, s. 8 (1) Prohibition against providing vocational programs:

The Superintendent believes that Glassbox Education offers an unapproved vocational program.

Inquiries into the affairs of Glassbox Education identify that Glassbox Education offers the provision of a 10-month hairstyling/barbering program for a fee of $15,000 that is within the meaning of vocational program for the purposes of the Act, thereby contravening subsection 8 (1) of the Act.

Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005, s. 11 (2) Restrictions on advertising and soliciting:

The Superintendent believes that Glassbox Education advertises the provision of an unapproved vocational program.

Inquiries into the affairs of Glassbox Education identify that Glassbox Education advertises the provision of the aforementioned 10-month hairstyling/barbering program on its website glassboxeducation.com and the Instagram accounts:

  • @petergosling_
  • @glassbox.education
  • @glassboxbarbershop
  • thereby contravening subsection 11 (2) of the Act.

Further, the inquiries identify that Glassbox Education advertises the provision of a program titled “Level 1: Beginners” on its website glassboxeducation.com for a fee of $2,000, thereby contravening subsection 11 (2) of the Act.

Action taken and compliance achieved

On May 29, 2024, 2700132 Ontario Inc. responded to the Notice of Contravention on the same day of the issuance. In the response, Glassbox Education confirmed that it had taken the steps required to come into compliance with the Act, which were later confirmed by a designate of the Superintendent.
