Background
We want to improve foreign qualification recognition and labour mobility between provinces and territories within Canada. People who move to Ontario that are qualified in another province, territory or country to work in a regulated profession or skilled trade (such as plumbers, engineers or architects), must register with a regulatory body to be qualified to work in that profession or skilled trade in Ontario.
This process can sometimes be difficult for people trying to have their foreign credentials or qualifications from other provinces recognized in Ontario to work in their field of training.
Commitment to improve foreign qualification recognition and labour mobility
We are committed to removing barriers that people face while registering for, and finding work in, a regulated profession or a skilled trade in Ontario. This survey will help us gather information on:
- improvements in the registration process for regulated professions and skilled trades within Ontario
- supports that will help people get registered in a regulated profession or skilled trade, including those with education, training and/or work experience from outside of Ontario or Canada
- challenges specific to people who are registered in a regulated profession and skilled trade in another Canadian province or territory, who are applying for an Ontario licence
Your insights on the current credential recognition and licensing system will help us improve how internationally trained and out-of-province applicants become certified and find employment in a regulated profession or skilled trade in Ontario.
Your privacy matters
Your survey responses are being collected to help us gather province-wide information related to foreign qualification recognition and labour mobility in Ontario. They will be reviewed by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development to help future policy decisions.
