Service description

The Province provides funding to the Recipient for the delivery of the Reclaim Project.

Reclaim Project supports survivors of human trafficking in addressing financial harm related to their experience of exploitation. The program assists survivors of human trafficking in addressing coerced and/or fraudulent debt.

People served

The Program serves victims/survivors of human trafficking who seek to address coerced and/or debt related to their experience of exploitation.

Program/service

The Recipient is responsible for the delivery of services/activities to survivors of human trafficking living in the catchment area (Province of Ontario). Reclaim Project services that overlap with Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario (VCAO) Program will be delivered in accordance with the most up-to-date version of the VCAO Program Standards

Specific service provided

In addition to the services offered through the VCAO Program, the following services will be offered:

  • Work with creditors and financial institutions to assist survivors of human trafficking
  • Eliminate fraudulent debt from survivors' credit histories
  • Restore credit records and financial identity
  • Enable access to essential financial services
  • Provide financial education and empowerment to support survivors of human trafficking to rebuild their lives
  • Build partnerships and awareness with key actors, including creditors, financial institutions, and organizations in the anti-human trafficking sector.

Program goals

The goals of the Reclaim Project are to:

  • help survivors of Human Trafficking reduce or eliminate fraudulent debt, which can support them in rebuilding their lives.
  • increase credit scores of survivors of Human Trafficking
  • support financial education knowledge gains of survivors of Human Trafficking
  • increase partnerships with financial institutions and creditors
  • Promote referrals from organizations within the anti-human trafficking sector to better ensure that survivors of human trafficking are able to access the referral-based services at Reclaim Project.
  • Advocate with creditors and financial institutions on behalf of survivors to help clear their credit and rebuild their financial identities

Reporting requirements

Service data on ministry funded expenditures will be reported on at an Interim and Final stage. Report back due dates and targets are in the Recipient’s agreement with the ministry.

All service and financial data will be collected through the VQRP+ Customer Relationship Management system.
