Update: Changes to dealer and distributor registrations

As of April 1, 2025, amendments to Ontario Regulation 369 under the Farm Implements Act, 1990 following the passage of Bill 227: Cutting Red Tape, Building Ontario Act, 2024, have introduced significant changes to the registration process for farm implement dealers and distributors.

Key changes:

  • Annual registration renewals and associated fees are no longer required. Dealers and distributors who were registered and paid the applicable fee for 2025 will remain registered without needing to renew annually.
  • Registration is now a one-time requirement and certificates will no longer have an expiry date. Certificates will remain valid indefinitely, unless:
    • the dealer or distributor ceases to operate
    • the registration is suspended or revoked by the director under the Act

These changes are part of the government's ongoing efforts to reduce administrative burden and streamline regulatory processes for Ontario businesses.

For more information or to notify the director of changes to your business status, refer to the Farm Implements Act Program.
