1. Field of play description/requirements

  1. In all domestic competitions, the ring shall conform with the following requirements:
    1. The minimum shall be 4.9 m2 (16 ft2) and the maximum size 6.1 m2 (20 ft2).
    2. Measured inside the line of the ropes and it shall be no more than 1.2 m (4 ft) above the ground or base.
    3. The platform shall be safely constructed, level and free from any obstructing projections and shall extend for at least 45 cm (18 inches) outside the line of the ropes. It shall be fitted with four corner posts which shall be well padded or otherwise so constructed as to prevent injury to the boxers.
    4. The floor shall be covered with felt, rubber or other suitable approved material having the same quality or elasticity, not less than 2.5 cm (1 inch) and not more than 3.75 cm (1 1⁄2 inches) thick, over which a canvas shall be stretched and secured in place. The felt or other approved material and canvas, shall cover the entire platform.
    5. Red corner should be on the left side and closest to the jury table.
    6. There shall be four (4) ropes of a thickness of 2 cm (1 1⁄4 inches) minimum to 5 cm (2 inches) The four (4) ropes must be joined on each side of the ring, at equal intervals, by two (2) pieces of material (close to the texture of the canvas) 3.75 cm (1 1⁄2 inches) wide. The two (2) pieces must not slide along the rope.
  2. The height of the four (4) ropes shall be:
    1. 1st rope from ring platform: 40 cm (15 1⁄2 inches).
    2. 2nd rope from ring platform: 70 cm (27 1⁄2 inches).
    3. 3rd rope from ring platform: 100 cm (39 inches).
    4. 4th rope from ring platform: 130 cm (51 inches).
  3. For an approved Boxing Ring to be complete, the following ringside accessories are required for all Bouts:
    1. Gong, bell or equivalent sounding device.
    2. One (1) electronic stopwatch and one (1) manual stopwatch.
    3. Two (2) receptacles used for spitting.
    4. Chairs and tables for the Competition Officials and Seconds, per Event Rules.
    5. A microphone connected to the audio system in the venue.
    6. A small non-transparent plastic bag that will be placed in the two (2) neutral corners on the outside of the ropes.
    7. Medical supplies as required by the World Boxing Medical Rules.
    8. Towels, mops and other cleaning material as needed for the ring.
    9. A venue of suitable size must be provided with at least a 2-metre wide area around the ring for the protection of competitors, coaches and officials.
