Proclamation

Whereas throughout its long history, Ontario has been characterized and strengthened by its diverse and distinctive cultures;

And Whereas from the time of its establishment, people of African descent have made significant contributions to the development and betterment of the province;

And Whereas the Black community continues to play a vital role within the social and cultural mosaic that is Ontario;

And Whereas Black History Month was first recognized in Ontario as February 1993, marking the 200th anniversary of the passage of legislation prohibiting the importation of slaves into Upper Canada;

And Whereas Black History Month continues to provide the opportunity to remember and celebrate the contribution that African Canadians have made to Ontario;

Therefore a proclamation is issued naming the month of February 2016 as Black History Month in Ontario.

Budget Measures Act, 2015

We, by and with the advice of the Executive Council of Ontario, name,

April 1, 2016 as the day on which the following provisions of Schedule 9 to the Budget Measures Act, 2015, c. 38, come into force:

  1. s. 1-44, being the Horse Racing Licence Act, 2015.
  2. s. 45, which amends the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation and Public Protection Act, 1996.
  3. s. 46, which amends the Licence Appeal Tribunal Act, 1999.
  4. s. 47, which repeals the Racing Commission Act, 2000.
