2025-02 Digital Certification
What is happening?
Effective June 2, 2025, ServiceOntario has expanded Digital Certification functionality in the land registry system to also include Transfer and Discharge of Charge document types. This will help ServiceOntario to improve the customer experience and deliver simpler, faster and more responsive services to Ontarians.
Information
Digital Certification technology uses the Electronic Land Registration System to verify information in documents and automatically certify them in accordance with the ministry's business rules. This will ensure the continued integrity of Ontario’s land registration records and provide faster service times for land registry customers.
While automation will play a pivotal role in processing routine documents, land registration staff will continue to process all other documents that do not meet the criteria for digital certification. This change will allow ServiceOntario to dedicate more time for the review and certification of complex registrations.
There are no changes to how customers prepare and submit Transfer and Discharge of Charge documents in Teraview. This expansion of digital certification is seamlessly integrated into the existing land registration systems.
