Environmental Assessment
The Ministry of Transportation submitted an environmental assessment in April, 1997 and is seeking approval to extend the Highway 407/Transitway from Markham Road easterly to Highway 7 east of Brock Road.
In the early 1990's the construction of Highway 407 was accelerated to allow for completion of the highway to Markham Road by the end of 1998. Concerns about impending traffic problems in the Markham area once Highway 407 reached Markham Road required the evaluation of ways to address these concerns since construction of the roadway east of Markham Road was not included in the accelerated construction plan at that time. The Notice of Completion of Review was issued on December 12, 1997 with the public comment period to end on February 16, 1998. The undertaking was approved with conditions on June 24, 1998.
