Seniors Community Grant Program

Seniors Community Grants, ranging from $1,000 up to $25,000, help community organizations’ ability to provide opportunities for greater social inclusion, volunteerism and community engagement for older adults, from the safety of their homes or other safe environments.

The Seniors Community Grant Program funds local not-for-profit community groups and organizations to deliver projects, supports and resources that help older adults (aged 55+) to:

  • live independently
  • live with safety and security
  • stay connected to their community
  • avoid isolation
  • achieve greater financial security and social connections

Programming can be delivered remotely, virtually or in-person.

Eligibility

Applicants may be:

  • incorporated organizations that can apply for up to $25,000
  • individuals that representing local, unincorporated seniors’ groups that can apply for a maximum of $10,000

Projects must involve older adults and meet at least one of the ministry’s key priorities outlined in the program guidelines.

Approved projects are anticipated to start by June 2024 and must be completed by March 31, 2025.

How to apply

We are now accepting applications.

  1. Read the program guidelines for information on eligibility and program details.
  2. Apply online through the Transfer Payment Ontario (TPON) website. Learn how to sign up for a TPON account.

Setting up an account may take up to 5 business days, so register at least 1 week before starting the application process.

Deadline to apply is March 28, 2024, at 5 p.m.

Sign up for free webinars to help you learn about Ontario taxes, tax credits and benefits. These sessions are hosted by the Ministry of Finance.

Senior licence renewal process for drivers 80 and older

Get information on:

  • trends and statistics for older drivers
  • testing requirements for those 80 years and older
  • collision reporting process for those 70 years and older
  • signs of aging or medications related to driving ability
  • driving tips and recent rules of the road

The Seniors Liaison Committee

The Seniors Liaison Committee (SLC), is chaired by the Ministry’s Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for Seniors and Accessibility Policy, Programs and Strategic Partnerships.

The Committee facilitates two-way communication between the government and Ontario’s largest seniors’ organizations on topics of policies, programs and services.

SLC’s mandate is to:

  • identify issues and concerns of Ontario’s seniors with provincial government services in an aging society
  • provide input and feedback related to government’s policies, programs and services related to Ontario’s aging population
  • allow dialogue among members and government
  • identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership among members

SLC members are organizations with leadership, knowledge, expertise and connections related to issues of aging in Ontario, including:
