News and updates
In early 2027, we will replace the current fishing and hunting licensing system with FishHuntON — a new and improved licensing system to better serve our anglers and hunters.
Anglers and hunters will have more choices than ever when purchasing and managing their fishing and hunting products, including:
- a free FishHuntON mobile app
- a new and improved website
- in-person at private licence issuers
- in-person at participating ServiceOntario locations
- automated phone line for select services
This new system will make it easier for you to purchase and renew fishing and hunting products and access services online, such as:
- purchasing fishing and hunting licences and tags, including general and apprentice falconry licences
- entering big game draws
- submitting hunter reports
Highlights and features
Mobile app
We’ll be introducing a free FishHuntON mobile app to make buying and accessing your fishing and hunting products faster and more convenient. The mobile app will also offer enhanced features that are available without cell connectivity (for example, digital tags).
Features available on the app include:
- purchase of licences and Outdoors Cards
- big game draw entries
- a new digital tag option
- hunter report submissions
Digital tags
In 2027, hunters will be given the option to carry either a paper tag or a digital tag. Digital tags will:
- only be available in the mobile app
- work with no connectivity
Hunters choosing the digital tag option in the mobile app will be responsible for carrying their mobile device in a charged state and carrying their digital tag on their own mobile device.
Online submission of Ontario hunter accreditation
We’re making it easier to submit your Ontario hunter accreditation by offering online submission through the new system.
